Applications in detail

Industrial microgrids with special requirements like different frequencies or other special characteristics can be coupled with the public supply grid via our Innomotics Perfect Harmony SH150 converter systems.

A grid coupling connects two power grids and enables (bidirectional) power transmission. It matches voltage and frequencies to demand and helps eliminate faults on both sides. To properly control the power flow between one or more grid couplings and other generators, the control system can be integrated into the plant's energy management system.
Oil and gas platforms as well as FPSOs (floating production, storage, and offloading vessels) use a lot of energy for drilling, oil pumping and natural gas compression. Our frequency converters help reduce their carbon footprint by connecting them to the onshore power grid fed largely by clean energy sources. The converters match grid frequencies, compensate reactive power for long cables, and support motor startup and fault clearance.
Connecting remote plants to a power grid is a challenge because of the impedance of long cables. Our STATCOM converters help to stabilize the voltage and limit voltage dips, for example, when large motors are started directly. They can also reduce a plant's VAR requirement at the grid coupling point, significantly reducing the cost for the grid connection.
